About Prana

When your journey of this world starts from incubator and childhood is filled with doctor’s visits instead of play dates, sick-time instead of games and parties, and medical prescriptions instead of candies then naturally, healing and transformation will become the core aspect of your life. Being in a hurry to always arrive early (hence the incubator) caused my natural immune and health systems to be very weak. It was the elders, teachers, yogis, shamans and their knowledge of Ayurveda, Himalayan Shamanism, and Yoga that helped in my healing and transformation.
I have become a healing artist and my life has been a living quest of how healing and transformation happens? Is there more to this body than the physical and mental structures? How does our awareness and breath help in healing and transformation? What is Prana, Nadi, Bindu? Is love and compassion the ultimate source of healing and transformation? I have spent over thirty years researching and studying various traditional healing systems to find answers and thankfully, I still have much to learn. My heart is full of gratitude for all the teachers and beings that have helped and guided me in my journey of healing and transformation. I am certified in Visionary Craniosacral Work™ by Hugh Milne, a third generation Osteopath who was very gracious to teach me that visionary school encompasses all ways of understanding and working with the Craniosacral system (including Biodynamic, Energetic, Mechanical and Shamanic.) I started to learn Ayurveda as early as seven. My grandmother taught me about prakurti / vikruti / abhiyanga / shirodhara and many other bodywork treatments. Then my Ayurvedik Physician in Gujarat (India) taught me about doshas and herbs. Here in US, Dr. Vasant Lad (preeminent Physician and Professor of Ayurveda, in Albuquerque, NM) taught me how to integrate various aspects of Ayurveda with clinical practice. At the age of thirteen, I was blessed to find a Tantrik teacher of Nath Tradition (lineage of Maha-Yogi Gorakhnath) who also followed path of Maha-Siddha Dampa Sangye. He taught me Tantrik meditative practice of Nath-Sidhhas and Vajrayogini lineages. In 2010, I spent over six months in Himalayas traveling from Mt.Kailash to Mt. Khangchendzonga learning Chöd (Skt: ccheda-sadhana) and Tantrik Meditative practices from many Himalayan Shamans ((Dhami, Jhankhri, ngakpa and Tantriks), traditional healers (Amji), saddhus, lamas, yogis, in the Himalayan regions of Tibet, Nepal, Ladakh, Uttrakhand, Himachal and Sikkim. I have experienced that the life-force (‘vital breath’, qi, ‘breath of life’) which pulsates through our being is of same essence which pulsates through cosmos. Love and compassion are two wings of our life-force that guides us on the path of healing and transformation. In my healing practice, I integrate Ayurveda, Craniosacral work with Himalayan Shamanism to create sacred space for healing and transformation to happen. Doing healing and helping people in their journey has become a fulfilling path for me. sarve bhavantu sukhinah [May all be Happy and Blissful.] |
